Tour Itinerary
Day 01: Cusco - Puno
Transfer to the bus station. You will travel by tourist bus to Andahuaylillas that is the church considered the “Sistine Chapel of the America”. Inside the church we can find a variety of paintings and murals dating from the XVI and XVI centuries. This Church is an outstanding example of colonial art. We will continue our trip to Raqchi, that is Temple dedicated to Wiracocha, supreme god of the Inkas, is built out of sun dried mud brick walls and stones. The site contains remains of terraces bridges, warehouses and cottages. Then, we will go on travelling to Sicuani, this is exclusive tourist inn where you will enjoy a delicious lunch buffet and will have a rest.
In the afternoon, we will travel to La Raya that is the hightest pass on the route; this point is the conjunction of the Cordillera an origin of the Vilcanota Knot. There is much to admire in the area: snow topped peaks, herds of alpacas and vicuñas etc. We travel to Pukara where you can find archaeological complex consisting of a pyramidal structure. You can recognize in this place that it is the first sign of civilised culture in the Peruvian Altiplano. The ruins date from 4,000 bc.
At nigh, you will arrive to Puno where you will transfer to the selected hotel.
Day 02: Puno – Arequipa - Private Service
Breakfast in Hotel.
Private Service towards to Sillustani. Sillustani is located on a high plateau about 30KM north of Puno. It is one of the largest necropolises in the world and is surrounded by a beautiful scenery, most notably is the Lake Umayo. Then the tour will continue towads to Lagunillas, where you can find a series of beautiful lakes located in the Puno region at an altitude of about 4,000 metres. We will continue travelling to stop in the Rocky formation called "Bosque de Piedras de Huayllay", where there are the giants’ rocks that has been eroded over millions of years by wind, rain, and humidity to form the shape of trees, animals and human figures. We will stop again in Condorama at Crucero Alto, where is the river Colca source which runs down to the Pacific Ocean near Camana. We will continue travelling upwards to Pampa Cañahuas, located at more than 4,000 metres above sea level, it is a national reserve and has an ideal location for the protection of vicuñas. Within the sanctuary, you will observe these beautiful animals in the wild, finaly we will arrive in Arequipa which lies in the shade of the impressive 5,500 metres Misti Volcano. Arequipa is also well known as the white city due to the abundance of the white ashiar volcanic rock.
